Hue Essential GU10 (Color).
Full color in a GU10 spotlight fitting. Two bulbs, 16 million colors, white light from 2200 to 6500 K, and Bluetooth control out of the box.
What it does
Color in a spotlight
Most color smart bulbs come in standard E27 fittings. The Essential GU10 brings the same idea to spotlight sockets: kitchens with downlights, bathroom mirrors, display shelving, track lighting. Any room where the fitting is GU10 and you want more than a fixed white.
Screw it in, open the Hue app, pair it. Two minutes and you have full color and adjustable white light controlled from your phone.
What it covers
White light runs from 2200 K at the warm end to 6500 K at the cool end. That is a wide range. Warm candlelight in the evening, crisp daylight white for kitchen tasks in the morning, and everything in between.
The 36-degree beam angle keeps the light focused, which works well for directional lighting over a worktop or a shelf.
Color covers the full 16 million range. You can set scenes from the Hue library or build your own.
Dimming goes down to 2%.
Where the Essential sits in the Hue range
This is the entry-level color GU10. It does the job well, and it costs less than the standard White and Color Ambiance GU10. The trade-off is a shorter rated lifespan at 15,000 hours versus 25,000 on the premium range. If you are lighting a rented apartment or a room you plan to redecorate in a few years anyway, the Essential makes sense. If you are doing a permanent installation and want maximum lifespan, the standard version is worth the extra.
